The nine planets are Sun,Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu as per Vedic Astrology. The planets whose orbits lie within Earth's orbit round the Sun, are termed as inferior planets and the planets outside the Earth are termed as superior planets. The inferior planets are Sun, Mercury and Venus are inferior planets and mostly appear very near in the Rasi Chart. If the month is known, then approximate estimation of the position of Sun, Mercury and Venus can be carried out through thumb rule applications.  The superior planets are Mars, Jupiter and Saturn and hence these planets plays a major role in the predictive areas. Due to retrograde nature and short duration, the estimation of the position of Mars through thumb rule is not possible as in the case of other planets. Rahu and Ketu are termed as shadow planets in the Vedic astrology. The position of Rahu is very much important to judge the chances of foreign settlements, inclination to learn foreign languages, inclination to foreign culture, love marriage, business inclination, expendtures on business, etc. The position of Ketu is very much critical in estimation of break in education, break in marriage, divorce, business losses, stock market losses, etc. The planets moves in forward ditection except in the case of Rahu and Ketu, which travel in 180 degree all the time. In sometimes the planets may move backward direction and this is known as retrograde motion of a planets. Due to the retrograde motion of a planets, the calculation of movements of the planets become highly complex, and complicated.
